Healthcare Advisory Board
The Healthcare Advisory Board of the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation is comprised of MD’s, Ph.D’s, therapists and clinical directors from various backgrounds and disciplines in healthcare. The purpose of the HAB is to ensure that the Foundation’s Ocean Therapy program continues to be a cutting-edge alternative form of therapy for those suffering from physical, mental, and emotional trauma.
Dr. Michael Collins
Dr. Michael Collins is an engaging and dynamic therapist who has grown a practice focusing on common struggles with depression, anxiety, trauma or addiction, and many of his clients are facing some form of relationship issue. Dr. Collins is passionate about the ocean and makes time to surf, or paddle, as much as possible.
Rachel Daggett MS, LMFT
Rachel is in private practice in Hermosa Beach, where she sees teens and adults of all ages struggling with eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and difficult life adjustments. She is a strong believer in therapy and healing occurring “outside the box”, whether that be through art, dance, ocean and nature, or body movement. Rachel has her 200hr yoga training certificate and co-facilitates beach yoga sessions, women’s circles and yoga retreats for local women seeking support and meaningful conversations with other women. She is on the board of the South Bay Eating Disorder Coalition, helping to bring awareness and resources to individuals and families struggling with common issues around food and self image.
Peter Gentry, MD

Peter is a Board Certified Medical Doctor in Emergency and Hyperbaric Medicine, world traveler, surfer and father to Curren. When not serving patients in Mississippi, Peter is likely in the ocean or on the slopes with the goal of staying out of the ER!
Chris Johnson, MD

I am a retired LA county Ocean Lifeguard and currently practice Emergency Medicine. I am responsible for running a brand new 37 bed Emergency Department where I oversee the medical care of my providers and monitor daily operations.
Dr. Kelly Mothner
Dr. Kelly Mothner is a therapist specializing in adult, adolescent, and couples therapy. Having established her private practice in the South Bay, she embraces the opportunity to work and live in the very community that has shaped who she is both personally and professionally. At her Hermosa Beach office, she provides a calming and confidential space to help teens, adults, and couples seek clarity and strength to achieve greater personal fulfillment and more satisfying relationships.
Michael O'Donnell DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Owner/ Director Harbor Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine
Mike has served as a faculty in member in the Division of Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy at USC for twenty five years. In that capacity he led courses in advanced patient management in the entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
In addition to clinical and academic pursuits, Mike has maintained his status as a recurrent Ocean Lifeguard with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, a position he has held since 1977. He competes regularly in ocean lifeguard events and has won two National Titles for lifeguard surfboat racing and six National Doryman’s titles.
Gregor V. Sarkisian, PhD
Associate Professor of Community Psychology at Antioch University Los Angeles
As a core faculty member of the M.A. in Clinical Psychology program, Dr. Sarkisian teaches Applied Community Psychology, conducts applied research and program evaluation in community settings, and serves as the Director of Research and Evaluation for the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation.

Kevin is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in Hermosa Beach, the Clinical Director at The Promises Foundation’s Miriam’s House and runs groups for Clear Recovery’s Individual Outpatient Program. He is a Doctoral Candidate in The Depth Psychotherapy Program at Pacifica. His work in the community has included teaching and coaching the Mira Costa Surf Team, Program Director at Beachsports and he continues to be a professional musician mentoring and performing with aspiring, young local talent. Kevin is an avid waterman and his love for the ocean combined with his passion for assisting people through trauma, loss and a litany of psychological challenges has coalesced in the opportunity to serve our community as a Clinical Director for the Foundation.
Linda West, MSW, LCSW
I am retired. I had a private practice for 15 years that included psychotherapy and bereavement counseling. I facilitated grief groups for Providence Trinity Care Hospice for over 20 years. I am a long time supporter of the JMMF Ocean Therapy Program and am honored to be invited to join the Healthcare Advisory Board.
